Episode 5 – Summary
It is most focus on the relative social difference, the appearance of the difference is that it's depicted as the Japanese to be more trusting of people. That people in the west are more closed off to other people and are a bit more suspicious of what this person want from me. That when people approach you they might have other things in mind. Although this isn't a bad philosophy to teach a child that isn't able to tell the difference in people intentions. However It could be perceive that they way that Claude did it was wrong because he ultimately made her a bit paranoid about everyone.
The other main focus of this episode was on the concept of freedom. This is nothing all that difficult to understand from a western perspective, and that if you had nothing to do want is it that you would want to do. Although from the Japanese view what you want to do is feel like you are need or that your actions are helpful to those around you. Which is what they pointed out that Japanese society focus more on the group than the individual. While western society is more focused on how the group can benefit the individual. They express these two point in various ways but this episode wasn't as interesting as the others were.
