High School DxD - Episode 02

Episode – 02 characters

Matsuda & Motohama – They are Hyoudou Issei's friends from mid-school, on graduation they decide to enroll in Kuou Academy because they just change from an all girls school to co-ed. The reason they want this is that there would be high population of women to men, so that they could fulfill their dream of having a harem.

Kiba Yuuto – Is extremely popular with all the girls, and because of this he is envied by Issei, Matsuda, and Motohama. Although it seems that he will play a larger role later on.

Rias Gremony – Is the President of the Occult Research Club, and another key character in the story. However for some deeper reason she has been keeping a close eye on Hyoudou Issei.

Hyoudou Issei – Is overtly perverted, and has some strange dream about being a harem king. Which if you ever watch Yu-Gi-Oh, the joke that the writer is making is quite apparent. Although after he dies he has a slight change of heart. It will be interesting how much he maturates over the course of the series.

Amano Yuuma – She is the girl that asks Issei out early in the episode, although you would have to ask what kind of respectable woman would date a known pervert. However the reason is later revealed.

Souna – There isn't much that we know about her other than she is close to Rias Gremony or at least the gremony family.

Himejima Akeno – She is the Vice-president of the Occult Research Club, and her personality is a refection of the Yamato Nadeshiko “Ideal Japanese Woman”. Although other than this not much is revealed.

Toujo Koneko – First year student at this part of the Occult Research Club, and is classified as a loli character that is popular with men and woman.

Dounashiki – He is the second fallen angle that Issei ran into in the first episode, since they name him. It is likely that he will be making a second appearance.

Episode – 02 summary

It starts with Issei waking up next to Rias, although this turns out to be a startling development because they are both naked in bed. However for as big of a pervert that he is you would think he would be more overjoyed about this development. It turns out that he is acting like a scared virgin that can't remember their first time, this demeanor reflect how innocent he truly is. This bring up question of how much of his behavior is an act to fit in with his friends and how much is his true intent. After this humorous scene Rais explains that what happen last night wasn't a dream that he really almost did die, and the reason that they are naked was so that she could heal him with her magic. Although thing get interrupted by the appearance of his mother. After a few more humorous scenes this leads us to the point where she tells him that after school someone will come to get him so that they can continue this discussion.

Although he is displease with who Rias choose to send to get him, the person he hates the most Kiba. Although once Rias arrives she goes into explaining what is going on. The fact is that She and everyone that is part of the Occult Research Club is a Devil. That there are three force out there and they are at war with each other. The Devil, Angels, and Fallen Angles. That what happen between you and Yuuma was not a dream, it really happened. That Yuuma was a Fallen Angle sent to kill Issei, and the reason being he held a Sacred Gear. Although it turns that he can't activate because his emotila state isn't strong enough. However he is told that he is Rias servant and if he works hard it will be possible for him to get his own servant, but currently they are going to have him to do go-fer work where he is to pass out Devil contract cards.

This leads up to the point where Issei has to take over one of the requests from Koneko, which was with an Hentai that is a bit to into Loicon's (a man that is interested in underage woman). Although this leads them into a heated discussion about a Dragon Ball knock-off, which leads me to believe that in this series there is going to be a lot of Anime references. However as he is leaving his place Issei runs into another dark angle which is the one that sent Yuuma to kill him. In the end he saves him self by activating his sacred gear and causing her to run away. Although this unfortunate event, ends up informing the dark angles that he has been resurrected as a Devil.

Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai - Episode 02

Episode – 02 characters

Segawa yuuta – Is a freshman in college, and is getting settled into his new life. His choose field of study for his major is Japanese literature. Also it appears that he has a complicated family because he was raised by his sister.

Oda Raika – She is viewed as a strange person because of the only person that she is know to spend time with is the Sightseeing Club President Sako. Where when she was a freshman she was extremely popular, however now in her second year of college as a Liberal Arts Major she is view as an outcast because of her strange behavior of not knowing how to deal with people.

Sako – He is the Sightseeing Club president, and is well known for his perverted nature.

Nimura – Is a member of the Sightseeing club and it appears that he will be a close friend to Yuuta. Although for some strange reason he never really sleeps at his apartment but has women use it in his stead although for some reason he sleeps over at Yuuta's place but in return he pays for the food.

Sora – She is the Eldest Sister, and is from Shingo's first wife. Also another point to note is that for some reason she is deeply in-love with Yuuta her uncle who is the brother of her fathers thrid wife.

Miu – She is the middle child and is from Shingo's Second wife. While at this point it doesn't seem like she is in love with him like her elder sister, this still doesn't mean that she isn't fond of him.

Hina – She is the youngest sister, and of the three sister the only one that is of blood relation to Yuuta. It also appears that Yuuta hasn't had much interaction with her because of his dislike of Shingo because he married his sister when he had to daughter already.

Shingo – He is the husband of Yuri, Yuuta's sister. Also it appears that when he married her he brought with him two children from previous marriages. However we don't know if they end in divorce or death of his previous wives.

Yuri – Is Yuuta's sister and the third wife to Shingo. Also see wish for her whole family to exist as a whole and not have Yuuta create this barrier between them just because he doesn't like Shingo.

Episode – 02 summary

In the beginning it starts off where the last episode left off, which in the end leads us into a proper introduction to Yuuta's three nieces. Then after this Sora stomps off angry about her uncle seeing almost comletely naked. Although Miu tries to comfort him by saying that she is just shy and in time she will get over it. This leads him to play a video game with Hina, that when he beats her in the game she breaks down and cries. Yuuta wasn't expecting such an extreme reaction, however this cause Sora to come back to beat him in the game to make Hina happy. After this they have lunch together which afterword Yuuta takes a nap on the couch which later proves to not be such a great idea.

When Miu draws on his face while he is a sleeps this proves to be a problem when he wake up and shortly after his sister's husband Shingo attack Yuuta believing him to be a kidnapper that abducted his daughters. When in reality Shingo's daughter are just out shopping. Although with the way that things end Yuri fell alright with leaving Yuuta alone with her daughters as they leave to go on their honeymoon together, because they never had the opportunity before because Shingo already had two daughters. However Yuuta does agree to look after them while they are gone although a bit reluctantly.

In the first day of looking after them, each one of the three niece want their uncle to do something with them. Hina wants him to play games with her, while Miu wants him to help her with her homework, lastly Sora expects him to help her with cleaning of the house. In the end he summits to all of their demands, and does them in order from youngest to oldest. Then they finish the day off together by watching a meteor shower, which is a bit interesting considering the fact in Japanese mythology these event are viewed as signs of great misfortune. Which is might be the reason why the writer had the airplane their parents where on fall out of the sky in a way that would be similar to a meteor.

This sets up the end of the episode, where they are having a funeral for Yuri and Shingo. Which leads up to the point on what is going to happen to their children. The rest of the family believes that they need to be slit up because no-one wants to take in all three children. This event hit Yuuta a bit hard because we see that a similar event happen when his parents died and his sister decide to take him in and have him live with her because she believe that a family should always stick together. This leads Yuuta to make the decision of asking them if they all want to live with him and give them the same opportunity that his sister gave him. Which they gladly accept, even though the rest of the family think it is not a good idea.

Nisemonogatari - Episode 02

Episode – 02 characters

Araragi Koyomi – Is the star of the show, he was a vampire but now he is human again but not completely. Although this makes him almost immortal with how fast he heals, also the pseudo-vampire that orginal turned him now lives in his shadow.

Senjougahara – She is the first girl that he helped in the previous series, and she is his current girlfriend. They started to become closer after he helped her to get her weight back from the weight god that original took it. Although when it took her painful memories it took her weight with it because “omoi” means both memories and physical weight.

Hanekawa – Is the fifth girl that he helped in the previous series, that her problem came from the sawari-neko. Which according to the write is one of the legendary cat-demons along with neko-mata “twin tail cat” and bake-neko “monster cat”. The sawari-neko lives inside the person and when the suffer from too much stress, it manifest itself to relieve the problem.

Sengoku – Is the forth girl that he helped, she was suffering from jagari-nawa which was a snake curse. Where it cause an invisible snake to bind the person body then once it reaches their neck it kills them. It turns out that she was curse because she turn down a boy that asked her out.

Hachikuji – Is the second girl in the previous series that he helped. It turns out that she wasn't actually a person but a ghost that is an earth-bound spirit that cause people to lose their way. Although it is also called a snail because people that follow it just endless go around in circles. That the only way to save it is by having it go somewhere that isn't mapped out.

Araragi Karen – She is the older of Koyomi's two sisters, Koyomi make a point of mentioning the fact of that she has a natural talent for karate. That she presents herself in a way that reflect her aggressive nature, and doesn't go about hiding it like her younger sister.

Araragi Tsukihi – She is the younger of Koyomi's two sisters, although from his perspective she uses her womanly charm to hide her aggressive nature. Instead of presenting out there for all to see like her elder sister.

Kanbaru Suruga – Is the third girl that he helped in the previous series. Although her problem was that she made a contract with a lesser demon called the rainy devil. Which once it grants your wish it takes your soul. Then because Kanbaru hated Araragi for being able to get close to Senjougahara so easily. Kanbaru wish for him to die. Although Araragi set things in motion Senjougahara made so that the rainy devil couldn't fulfill the wish because after Suruga kill Koyomi, Senjougahara would kill her thous invaliding the wish and saving Kanbaru's soul.

Episode – 02 summary

Things start out with him arriving at Sengoku's house, it turns out that she invited Koyomi over when she knew her parents would not be home. Then the conversation progress into what games they should play. Sengoku suggest that they play the king's game, but Koyomi says that they can't play that with only two people. Although Sengoku disagrees that she is alright with taking orders or giving them, however Koyomi is too dense to realize that she is trying to come on to him. In the end they settle on the game of life. While they are playing the game Sengoku informs him about the fact that his sisters are planning something, because they believe that someone is at the bottom of spreading all this supernatural stuff. Although he response that no-one is actually spreading it, the thing is that it has always been there it's just that most people just don't notice it. This pushes the point of the fact that Koyomi is going to have to confront his sisters about what they are doing and the truth of the world that they don't know about. However just as they finish this conversation the game that they were playing ends as well but before they can being the next game Sengoku's mother comes home but because she didn't tell her that Koyomi was coming over he is going have to leave quick.

Then after Koyomi leaves Sengoku's place, he calls up Kanbaru and tells her that he unexpectedly has a day off, and if it is alright if he comes over a day early to help her clean up her room. Kanbaru tells him that today is fine, but on his way to Kanbaru's house he runs into his other sister Karen. However when he see his sister walking on her hands he decide to mess with her by tripping her. This creates a funny scene where they are having brother-sister agreement while she is standing on her head. Which creates a whole new meaning about talking down to someone. Although things end with a bit of foreboding with the fact of Karen is trying to hide who she is talking to on her cell-phone with.

Then with that interaction done with we move into re-introducing one of the last characters from the previous season. That is Kanbaru Suruga, which is a very interesting person because almost ever word out of her mouth is a sexual innuendo. What is even stranger is how proud she is about being both a lesbian and a pervert. Although most of this scene is about introductioning new people of the series to her character, and this is mostly through jokes between Araragi and Kanbaru. However things even a bit dangerously for Araragi when he question Kanbaru on the fact that she isn't really as perverted as she makes her self out to be because of her boys-love books are what is better know as Yaoi. This is dangerous because he has woken the sleeping dragon by making Kanbaru prove her innocent by expressing how deeply perverted she really is.

Brave 10 - Episode 02

Episode – 02 characters

Isanami – She is the sole survivor of the Izumo shrine, also it appears that she has some strange power that she doesn't even know that she has. Another thing to point out is that her name is vary similar to the goddess in the Japanese creation myth. It wouldn't surprise me if they have her end of being the reincarnation of Izanami.

Kirigakure Saizou – He is the other real major character in this story. Also from the way he act, it like he has a great many secrets to hide. Like how he says that he is a samurai while in fact he is an Iga ninja. It also appears that he has some sort of connection with Isanami by how he is able to calm her down. There is also his unexplained hatred for feudal lords.

Sarutobi Sasuke – He is a Koga Ninja, and this is what leads to the conflict between him and Saizou because in Japanese his the Koga and Iga ninja's have a long standing rivalery. It also seems that for some reason the koga ninja's under his command are surving Sanada Yukimura.

Sanada Yukimura – His is Lord of Ueda Castle, it also appears that he is renown for his intelligence and integrity. Also it seem that he is seeking to draw ten great warrior to his side to equal his equal great fingers, before he can go to war.

Rokurou – He is a mysterious figure that is helping Yukimura in his ambition. Although it appears that it will be awhile before we learn more about him.

Ana – She is a childhood friend of Saizou, although he dislikes how clingy she is. Further more Isanami doesn't much care for her because she feels that she is going to take Saizou away from her. Also she is now working for Yukimura after trying to kill him and failing.

Hattori Hanzou – Is the one that burned down the Izumo shrine, and is working for Tokogawa Ieyasu. Although we don't know at this point what part he will play, even though he is a renown historical figure. However the one thing we do know is that he will be back for Isanami.

Episode – 02 summary

In the begin Isanami is having Saizou pick-out which of the kimono's she should wear for her festival dance. Although he is not particularly interested in deciding since he was force into it so after he make a quick pick. He use the time when she has her back turned to him to escape, although once Isanami realizes that Saizou she isn't particularly pleased. In his escape, he runs into an old childhood friend Ana. However once Isanami catches up with Saizou she isn't happy with the fact that a women she doesn't know is clinging to Saizou. Then Yukimura appears, and then with his arrival he breaks up the confrontation between Ana and Isanami.

This leads us to the festival taking place, then while Isanami is dancing. Saizou and Ana have conversation about Saizou unwillingness to serve anyone, which is in a way a contradiction to the existence of both ninja and samurai. The important of the samurai is different than the English mentality of one where we see them as knights, but the word samurai come from the kanji (haberu) which means to serve. Which for some reason is an uncomfortable subject for Saizou, this cause him to leave the festival early. Although Saizou leaves to search for the Boa constrictor that Yukimura told them about early since it might cause a bit of a problem with the festival.

In Saizou escape attempt from the festival, it cause Isanami to follow after him because he was seen leaving with Ana. Then shortly after Ana leaves Saizou alone with Isanami, she points to the forest and explains that something scary is over there. Which cause Saizou to indulge her, and they go to check out the forest. Although this cause Saizou to mention that there is nothing wrong but Isanami response that there is something wrong because nothing is wrong. This cause Saizou to agree because in this dense forest there is no life at all. However after this is mention the Boa comes out of hiding, and attacks them both. While Saizou is trying to get Isanami out of harms way he gets trapped under the Snake and has to free himself by using some explosives but injures himself in the blast. Then once he is free he quickly finishes the snake but upon it's death it traps Isanami and Saizou in an underground cave.

While trapped in this cave we get an explanation on why Isanami is so focused on Saizou because she believes that he is her light. Which is a bit ironic considering he is a ninja and a dealer of death. Her reason for believing this is that in her darkest moment he is the only one that helped her after Izumo temple was burned to the ground, and that is why Saizou is her light. This give Saizou the conviction to break out of the cave because she believes in him. It turns out that Isanami was right to believe in him because when created an exit everything didn't cave-in on them.

After they are free, they look out into the distance and see the castle burning. They rush back to see what is happening, and help anyone they can. It is more like Isanami rushes back to help and Saizou only follows to make sure that she remains safe. While the castle is burning Hattori Hanzou is going around killing the guards in his search for Isanami. Then when hattori finds Izanami is horrified that she is face to face with the man that destroyed her temple. Although before Hattori can take her away Saizou strikes at Hattori, which force him to defend himself. During most of the fight it looks like Saizou is out matched by Hattori partial because of how injured he was from his fight with the snake when he almost blew himself up. In the end he was able to force Hattori back, even though it was just barely.

Notes

Samurai – Saizou issue with not wanting to serve a lord is kind of an old samurai joke which goes like this. A samurai's existence is given mean by serving some one, by you don't want to be tied down by anything so you don't serve anyone, but the path of a samurai is the path of freedom. That by not serving anyone, it is not that you are free but that you are afraid of being free.

Yin-yang – Is the theme of this episode. The Yin in the yin-yang is represent by the dark area, while the yang is representative of the white area. The yin is a symbol of both darkness and woman, while Yang represents man and light. The key principle is that one can not exist with out the other. This symbolism is increased by giving Isanami a light personality while she represent darkness, at the same time giving Saizou a dark personality while he represent the light. Although this also goes back to Taoism where the contradiction that exists, only exists because we believe that it must.
