Date A Live II - ep04

In this episode there are three fights that are going on. Firstly the battle between Kaguya and Yuzuru is mostly ignored. However most of the focus is place on the conflict between the two ships Fraxinus and Ashcraft. Which is interesting since Fraxinus is under-command of Kannazaki which for the most part been seen as being useless and largely incompetent. This lead to very little faith in him but the crew still follows his order even-though they are very hesitant to do so. It seems despite Kannazaki character he is very capable of fighting off this enemy, which leads to fleeing once Kannazaki is able to critically damage their ship.

The Kannazaki battle is linked with Touka's battle with Ellen Okamine the enemy spy. Ellen boast that she is the worlds strongest wizard, it also it appears that she is appalled that Touka compare her to the AST. It seems that her self proclaimed title is earned since she defeats Touka with very little trouble. Then as Ellen is about to take her spoils of war with her to do god knows what to Touka something unexpected happens. That Shido is able to summon Touka's sword Sandalphon which is the manifestation of her powers. Although he doesn't know how he was able to do it but when he summoned it he destroyed all of Ellen's minions that were holding Touka down. Then the effects of Kannazaki battle come into play since he doesn't know how to use Sandalphon. That means he can't protect himself or Touka but with the damage done to the enemy ship it disables the bandersnaches which allow for Shido and Touka to make their escape.

This leads to the conclusion of the between the Yamai twins. Shido desires to save them but he can't seem to get their attention. This results in him trying to use Sandalphon but he swings it but nothing happens. This causes Touka to show him how to use it when they swing it together to cut the twins storm which gets their attention. Now with their attention direct at him he gives them a perspective of the only choice they have is the third option is have their powers seal but in return neither one of them has to be sacrifice for the other. Then before they give Shido their answer although it's already clear what they are going to decide the enemy ship makes it appearance to capture both Touka and the twins. However they get destroyed by Kaguya and Yuzuru combined powers and the single act defines the choice they made to remain together. Now that everything is finished it seems that the is a storm brewing on the Horizion because of Shido summoning Sandalphon, while raising the question of why Shido will need to die. This single question seems to be linked to the nature of Shido's ability to seal the Spirits powers and ask the question is her really human.
