Log Horizon - ep01

Now with Log Horizon we have another Anime center around the concepts of an MMO. Which in some ways it is very similar to Sword Art Online with how everyone is trapped inside a MMO. However there are things that are very different, in SAO everything was center around Kirito and how his past as a game tester prevent him from joining any guilds. While our main characters in this series have an aversion to the commit a guild force upon them but they stilll work together to meet their common interest. Another point that is interesting is that not all the rules are explained, actually nothing is explained to the players. That they have to discover things for themselves unlike in SAO where the game master clearly outline to rules to the players and what would happen to them if the die. That in this series there is a greater degree of uncertainty. That it feels a lot of this series will explore points of self discover and even how everyone originally got there and what they will have to do to escape.

This leads to the introduction of the characters themselves, it is clear that most of this is going to be from Shiro's perspective. Although it not like the other are not going to have an equally important role. Currently it seems that the story will revolve around three key characters Shiro, Naotsugu, and Akatsuki. That simply with their introduction problems are revealed that have impacted the game. That if you have your avatar as close to your real life measurement as possible, you have no difficulties. Although if there are little difference you will be tripping occasionally like Shiro but if almost nothing matches like in Akatsuki case you will need to reformat your character. This leads to a meetting with the Crescent Moon Alliance which is leaded by Marie. That through her more things are discovered, that there is a problem with the servers which cause people to be disconnected and isolate. Which will probably be the first thing that Shiro will try and solve is how you go about reconnect these people while they are being isolated because of their region.

Although it seems that Shiro's main priority is gather information on how much of the world has changed. However it is asserted that they are trapped in this world, it still not know what will happen if they are kill in the game. This adds to the uncertainty if it unknown whether or not you will die if you die in the game. This is something that Shiro doesn't want to test for himself, so this leads him to do a smaller test to see how the combat system and enemies have changed in a relativity safe area. This reveals that these things are not carried through with menu commands but with physical motions. The question is as the series progress what things are yet unknown. Even-though they now known some key things, they still don't know what is the key to their freedom.
