Characters

Niiya Teiichi – Is the main character in the story, after meeting Yuuko he wants to find out the reason for her death, and why her corpse was hidden in the old school building. In the desire to find these answers he looks into various ghost stories that seem to be connected to Yuuko in some way.

Yuuko – Is the ghost that inhabits Teiichi's school, and for some reason Teiichi is the one of the few people that can actually see her. It also appears for some reason she has forgotten how she died, although see really doesn't care about finding out. The only thing she wants is for Teiichi to pay attention to her.

Okonogi – Is a journalist that works for the school paper, and she ends up helping Teiichi a lot by digging up various ghost stories that end up floating around school. Also for her own reason she wants to help Teiichi out in his investigation of ghost stories.

Kirie – Is one of the few people that are able to see Yuuko other than Teiichi, other because of this it cause a great deal of stress for her. The reason being is that she can see Yuuko feeling Teiichi up while everyone else can't see her.

Summary

This time we get a more proper introduction into the series, because previously we got more of an introduction into the theme of the series while this time around we are getting the back-story on how the characters first met. Although the way that Teiichi meets Yuuko in the anime is a bit different than the manga. The different way it is portrayed is interesting because there is more of an emphasis on them actual meeting than on the questioning of the fact if she really is a ghost or not. Although the manner in which the manga introduce Yuuko is better because it express a greater degree on Teiichi part to learn about Yuuko, that is driven from his desire to help her.

After meeting Yuuko, she helps guide him out of the old school building. Although after Yuuko tells him that she is a ghost, he tries to test this by touching her. What surprise him is that he actual can, thing that is kind of interesting is why he decide to test this by trying to touch her breast. However it is a bit strange that even after touching her he just readily accepts the fact that she is a ghost. Later when they are on the roof top he is think back to when he first met Yuuko in that room. The he seems to recall a ghost story about a ghost being trapped behind a mirror. Then with this in mind he quickly rush back to the mirror to break it. What he finds is that there is a stair-case that leads down and at the bottom is Yuuko's remains. However the things get interesting when Yuuko finds him look at her remains because she is embarrassed by the fact that he is looking at her bones. Although her justification for this is once you become bones you can't become anymore naked than that.

Then Teiichi finally able to accept the fact that Yuuko is really dead, the paranormal investigation club gets started-up to discover how Yuuko died. This leads to the introduction of Okonogi, who has preform some-sort of ritural. Where you play onigoko(Japanese hide-and-seek) with a doll, and you tag it with the name Yuuko. First you play it the old-school when no-one is around, then you count to ten. Afterwords you turn around and stab the doll, the it the dolls turn to be it. This means that you have to hide, but when you want to end it. You then have to find the doll and tell it the game is over. If you can't end it properly then something will come to kill you. This is the reason why Okonogi has can looking for him because she believes that Teiichi will be able to help her. In the end the only thing that Teiichi could do is send her on her way after giving Okonogi a charm that Yuuko made.

Then after she leaves he realize that the doll she was talking about was in this very room, that the would reason that she was panicking was because Yuuko stole the doll. This leads to Yuuko explaining that all of it is inside her head, that if she believes that something is coming to kill her than her subconscious will make it come true. This leads to Teiichi having to defeat the “ghost” in-front of Okonogi for her to believe that she is free of that something. Then with the ghost defeated, it concludes the introduction of how Okonogi met Teiichi.
