Characters

Furuya Chihiro – He is a strange young man who is obsessed with zombies, he himself can't explain his love for them. However when his pet cat Babu get run-over, he tries to resurrect him with the potion that is written in this old book he found in his temple. Although he couldn't anticipate the effects that his actions would have on those around him.

Sanka Rea – She is from a wealthy family, and goes to an all-girls school across the river from Chihiro's all-boys school. Ultimately, she ends up meeting Chihiro by him over-hearing her screaming into a dry-well at the abandon building that Chihiro is working to resurrecting Babu. This leads them into entering into some sort of friendship.

Furuya Doun – He is Chihiro's Father, and also the head-priest at the temple that Furuya family manage. He doesn't play a particular big part in the manga so it likely that he is even less important in the anime.

Furuya Jogoro – He is Chihiro's Grandfather, and he is not all there. In truth there is a deeper reason for that, but the reality of that will be revealed in time.

Furuya Mero – She is Chihiro's little sister. Also for some reason she feels that she can't show any weakness.

Babu – He is a stray cat that chihiro has taken in and see as his own. Also when the cat dies, it fills Chihiro with the desire to bring it back to life because he can't accept the injustice that has been brought upon his cat.

Saouji Ranko – She is Chihiro's cousin, and they are fairly close to one another. In the manga there is a bit of a romantic relationship between her and Chihiro. The series even goes as far as mention some law about it is legal for cousins to marry one another. Whether they choose to go that direction in the anime is another question entirely.

Summary

The series continues on follow the events in the manga, where Rea is now helping Chihiro with making his resurrection potion. While it is still giving him difficulties because he doubt that it would work even if he did find the right poisonous plant to use. However Rea portrays an image that she is just using this as an excuse to be away from her father, and just is looking for someone to be her friend. Although when Chihiro mention it about time they stop because it's already been five days and he can't think about anymore poisonous plants out there for him to use. This reminds Rea of the fact that there is one poisonous plant that Chihiro has yet to use, and this gives us a break to look into Rea's past to see why she wants to die, and then have Chihiro Resurrect her.

It seems like Rea's father is more messed up in the head than the first episode leaded us to believe. It seems like he is not so much as raising a daughter but raising a wife from infancey. That whenever someone gets too close to Rea, he takes action to get rid of them. This become overly appearnet when Rea finaly get a friend, and she tells her about what her father has been doing to her. She convinces her to confront her father about it, but this results in Rea's father create a situation that would force the family to relocate. Which would remove the threat to his dominance over Rea, and her question of his type of love. In the end all this affirms for Rea is that for others to be happy she must be unhappy, and it is just her misfortune to be born into the Sanka family. This explains why she is so interested in Chihiro's resurrection potion because she believe that it is her ticket to freedom.

This then brings us back to the present where she is trying to reach the poisonous flower for Chihiro. Although when he see what she is doing, he quickly rushes outside to save her from falling off the cliff. Then with the poisonous flower in hand, Chihiro tires the potion on last time. However when he wasn't looking Rea sealed some in a bottle while Chihiro had his back turn to her. Although it appears that the potion doesn't work, this leads him to decide enough is enough. It too late to put Babu to rest tonight that they will do it tomorrow night.

Then as they are preparing to go home, Chihiro notices that Rea is limping. This leads to him giving Rea a rid home because he can't have her limping all the way. He ends up taking her as far as she is willing to let him, the reason being that she has to go the rest of the way on her own because she make it back with her farther knowing that she was ever gone. Then as Chihiro is making his way back inside his house he finds out that Ranko is over using his bath while wait for him to come home. It turns out that she has gotten quiet curious about why he has been out so late after babu's death. Then she unintentaly opens the icebox, and it turns out that Babu has been resurrected it just took some time. This flash use to Rea where it turns out that her father found out, and she is now under home arrest. This turns out to be the last straw because Rea drinks the potion believing that even if it won't resurrected her it will still free her by killing her.
