In the aftermath
of Misaki's confession to Jin, everyone has to leave because as of
noon the dorm is going to be closed. This isn't much of a problem for
Sorata since he was already aware of this and has made plans to
return home for winter break. Although it is a bit of a problem for
the girls of Sakurasou. Aoyama can't really return home because her
parent might not let her return. While Misaki doesn't want to go home
because there are too many memories of Jin and her there. Then there
is Mashiro where it is not like she going to go back to England only
to return once the dorm opens back up. This solve with Chihiro
thrusting everything once again on Kanada by having him bring
everyone home with him. Since there really nothing else that can be
done, he is forced to go along with that.
This is when
everyone meets his parents, although from this meeting Aoyama comes
to an understanding how is was able to adapt so well with living at
Sakurasou. Then from here we run into the main plot of the episode,
that Yuuko his sister is running into a bit of trouble with their
father because he doesn't want to allow for her to go to Kanada's
school. While Sorata feels that it is her responsibility to convince
him, however this strikes really close to home for Aoyama. This is
where she steps in and says that she will help Yuuko study to help
her prove to her father that she can do it. That through her hard
work she will be able to change his mind.
While this is
going on the two other secondary plots running parallel to this
story. One of them is Misaki trying to figure at why she can't be
with Jin. This leads to Sorata later calling up Jin to find out from
him what happened, but once he does. Sorata comes to an understanding
on what Jin is trying to do but it leads to him the question him on
whether or not he is going about in it's right way. Then it isn't
until later until we find out Misaki's thoughts on the matter, when
Yuuko unknowingly question Mashiro's manga. That Mashiro questions
Misaki if she drew them correctly because she always saw them
together. It isn't until this point that it is revealed that Misaki
is thinking about giving up anime if it will allow for her to be with
Jin. Then when Mashiro question what is it about her that Jin loves,
this allows for her to realize that she would be giving up the very
thing that Mashiro loves about her. That it isn't until the end that
she is able to break through her depression.
The other of
these two plot lines, is how Sorata's relationship is developing with
Mashiro and Aoyama. While here at his home Aoyama is learning how his
mother cooks for him, so in the future she will be able to cook meals
for him in the same way his mother did. Then through this action they
focus on how Aoyama kind of acts like a doting wife. That even as busy as she is she still has time to look after him. While on the
other hand with Mashiro creating artwork for his prestation, if it
becomes a success then Mashiro will become directly linked to making
his dreams come true. That in way since the beginning of the series
Mashiro and Sorata's fates have been deeply intertwined. In some ways
they are like mirror reflection of each other, and in other ways
there are interesting parallels in their relationship and how Jin and
Misaki suffer through theirs. The question is who will Sorata choose
in the end, this fact is emphasized by his father saying that he
can't be indecisive.
Although the
conflict is brought to an end when it is clear to Sorata that he must
speak to his father about Yuuko. Although once his father hears of
this he waste no time in going to see his son. However talking about
this while taking a bath with his father is a bit uncomfortable, but
his father is going to go away so he has to deal with it. This bring
him to talking about Yuuko that he should just allow for her to go,
because he doesn't believe that she will be able to pass. This leads
to him suggesting that he should wait to decide whether or not she
would go until after the results of her exam. It seems that was his
father intention to begin with, that talking with his father about
this was pointless since there was wasn't a problem to began with.
Things end with everyone watching the first sun rises of the new year
together.
