In the time that Yuusha has left to go
search for the Mage, Maou has been preparing for her confrontation
with the Alliance. That means that if her meeting with the Merchant
goes poorly they might have abandon everything they have work for so
far to make a run for it. Then as thing are it appears that Maou
wants something different from them then what she desired from the
Lake-shore Order. That by introducing them to corn, she wants them to
send settlers to the northern lands. The reason that they haven't
been settle yet was because they didn't have anything that could be
grown up there but with the corn it is now possible. Then with this
the Merchant realize what she is really trying to sell him is an
idea, but he has yet to see what she would get out of it. When she
conveys that she want the war to end in neither victory or defeat, he
see it as nothing more than heresy.
The as the tension rises, Maou goes
about reminding him of what he truly is. That his only true interest
is profit and loss, that official the Alliance supports the war is
justice. While in reality they really don't want the war to end
because with it conclusion they will lose valuable business. Although
on a personal level he is offended, but it also reminds him of the
Alliances teachings. You are a merchant before you are human, and you
are a merchant before you are a servant of the church. That nothing
that was offered here is in violation of the Alliance doctrine, this
truly amuse him to no end. Although before he leave he proposes to
the Maou however he is turn down, but I don't think he is going to
stop trying.
The rest of the episode focus on
Yuusha avoidance of the Maou, that things haven't turn out the way he
initially expected them to. That when she ask him to be her, he
initially believe that he need his powers to do something like for
instance closing the gate between the two realms or putting down a
demon rebellion. Instead she intent on keeping him from dirtying his
hands, that it is questionable that she even need him for anything in
the first place. Although this is only one of the issue that is going
on, it seems that central are going to force the southern nations to
go to war. Although there really isn't anything that they will able
to do about it because they are still dependent on Central to
survive, no matter how much thing have improved recently. That next
time things are going to be a bit more lively.
