Now
that the second season has began, things will begin to change
dramatically. The previous season was about setting the foundation
for the series by introducing the key characters as well as the
development and growth of Eren as he transitioned from a young boy
with thoughts of revenge to the revelation that he isn't quite human.
That the first order of the day is determining the fate of Eren,
although it appeared that it's not going to end with I want to join
you so let me fight at the front-lines. It seems that there is a lot
of internal power struggle over what to do with him. That some people
see using Eren as comparable to sleeping with the enemy, that they
want to keep their ranks pure and not have themselves being indebted
to the enemy. While the Recon Corps see it differently that they
realize that they are all going to die it is only a question of when
not if, that is why they are willing to use anything and everything
if it means the survival of humanity.
This
is the Reality that Eren is faced with, to either be executed through
dissection by the cowards of the Military Police or join the Recon
Corps to fight the Titans on the front-lines with the rest of the
Recon Corps. That really his only hope resides with the Recon Corps
but the problem is that it isn't his choice to make. There are even
more problems when the fact of his reliability comes into question,
when the fact was that during the operation to seal the gate he went
berserk for a period of time before doing his job. Then when Mikasa
tries to defend him by saying that he protect her two times before,
this leads to the cowards that want to dissect began to start
accusing Mikasa of being a Titan as well. This brings to light the
past where they killed Mikasa's kidnappers in self-defense, that in
realizing the direction things are going Eren decides that he has to
do something to prevent Mikasa from being drag into his problem
through her association with him. This leads Eren to suggest that it
will only be a matter of time until his own accusation fall on him
and he will find himself being dissected. This leads to Levi beating
Eren to bring the mud slinging to a stop. That with peace resorted
Erwin Smith the head of the thirteenth battalion suggest that Eren
does a dry run with Levi to test his reliability. That for Eren this
will be do or die, that if he goes out of control the Military police
will get his corpse but if he succeeds then the Recon Corps get their
weapon.
