Now with the
arrival of Arthur's castle it brings a lot into question and the
first of these question is where does Caesar loyalty lie. The
question are answer when he meets with Nobunaga once again, although
he is a changed man talking about loving everyone equal. Which is
ridiculous to Nobunaga because it is impossible love everything the
same since that would mean that you would value nothing. This is why
Nobunaga rejects Caesar so call offer of peace, but this action leads
to Jeanne once again questioning Nobunaga's motives. That her vision
of Nobunaga as the Destruction-King, but it is possible that this
could have been a false vision influence by Arthur. This leads us
into Caesar behavior, that some light is shown on it with his
interaction with Cesare and the different views of Arthur. Cesare
see him as a all consuming darkness that wish to devour the world.
While Caesar see him as the light that wishes to embrace with his
love. However with the appearance of the imps it alludes to the fact
that Caesar is Arthur puppet.
Ichihime is the
first one to confront this changed Caesar but in facing him she
realizes that the man that she knew is gone. Also you have the
ridiculous belief of pursuing the holy grail that it obtaining it
will lead to the end of everything but with the perfecta they will be
able to obtain eternal life. That in this way it associates itself
with Christianity and how you have to die to be reborn. Although a
reasonable person would not believe this that everyone must die to be
reborn since there is no proof that Arthur isn't just mad at the
world and wishes to end everything. Also you have the point of
immortally to the Japanese is repulsive, that a life that can not end
is a life without meaning.
However when
Mitsuhide tries to help Ichihime to escape, parts of Caesar's old
self shows through with his obsession over Ichihime and how he is
unwilling to part with her. This leads to a battle against Caesar but
Nobunaga can't be as aggressive as he wants to be because Ichihime is
inside with Caesar. Although when Caesar threatens Owari castle,
Ichihime express to her brother that he is a man that will rule
heaven and earth. Which means that if he must cut her down to stop
Caesar then he must, but Jeanne can't accept this and tries to stop
him. In the end Nobunaga stop Caesar not by killing him but by
cutting the shadow controlling him and freeing him of Arthur's
control. This leads to the appearance of the two imps that try to
take back Excalibur from Caesar. However this results in both of them
being killed by using Bianchi to hold Caesar up while Nell runs them
both through. Except that Nell dies as well being cut down by Caesar
as she goes to pull out her spear, but now with the last of
Nobunaga's family dead he is now truly alone. The real question is
how will Mitsuhide react to this, and will he blame Nobunaga for
failing to save Ichihime even-though there really wasn't anything he
could do.
