Mahouka Koukou no rettousei - ep10

Most of the events in this episode revolves around the cliffhanger that they left us with last time. They repeat the event a bit with have the car crash again. Although things were resolved in a bit unexpected way because there was certain expectancy that Tatsuya would deal with it personal. However that is not how it went down, Miyuki deals with the fire while Jyumonji stop it's moment. Although most didn't know of Tatsuya involvement of dispelling the other spells that were trying to form they will just assume that Miyuki spell blew them away. One of the only ones that has suspicion that he is responsible for dispelling so that Miyuki could put the fire out but the only one that is truly aware of what happened is Miyuki and of course Tatsuya him self.

Now with them at the hotel Tatsuya explains to Miyuki what really happen, that the car crash was no accident. That it was subtle use of magic that cause it to crash. First by having the tire blowout, then sending the car into a spin, and lastly angle moment on the guard rail to launch the car into on coming traffic. However the spells were low in power and were all cast by the drive, this is them hinting subtle magic is superior to direct overwhelming magic that the nine magical high school place emphases on. This is also further enforce by Kirihara and Hattori's discussion, and how seems to suggest that if the school were to change it assessment of magician then it is likely that some of the current course 1 students would be course 2.

This gets us to the welcoming ceremony, where it seems that their friends from school are already here. That Mizuki and Leo are in the kitchen while Mikihiko and Erika are busing tables. Although as Erika is joking around with Tatsuya she is expressing her resentment toward her family because both Mikihiko and her are force to be here. However she is thankful to Tatsuya in how he is so cold, because he is like that she can say whatever she wants and he won't be offended. This leads into the introduction Retsu Kudou which once again place emphases on subtle magic, where if he was a terrorist his magic would have not just been a joke that he could have kill all of them and no-one would have been the wiser. That during his joke he notice that only five of them could see past his magic in doing so only they would have been in a position to stop him. That he did this to put them on their toes since the government believe that the competition is going to be attack by terrorists. Things end with Mikihiko detecting some terrorists after the party while he is mediating first he was going to inform someone of this but the thought of Tatsuya and what he has done emboldens him to act. This leads to Mikihiko meeting Tatsuya as he supported Mikihiko from the shadows. It is likely that Tatsuya was already aware of them. The question is where will this meeting of two kindred spirits go.
