Komari's arc is
coming to an end with her remembering what happen to her brother,
although she is still unable to accept it. This is when it is
revealed that her brother Takuya tried to protect her from the pain
she would suffer through in the wake of his death by telling
everything was a dream. That this good intention ended up causing
more harm than good, by creating a defense mechanism that cause her
to believe everything was a dream and thous causing her to rejected
her brothers very existence. However in the even of seeing someone
die, it forces Komari to remember the truth. Then during this
conflict it cause her to believe some else is her brother, which
happens to be Riki.
Then in trying to
help Komari, Riki realize that something are better left being
forgotten. Although this truth doesn't help in returning Komari to
the person she once was. This leads him to Kojiro, to try and find
something to help Komari. However Kojiro tells him this has happen
before, that any sort of death will cause Komari to relapse but once
a couple weeks pass she will return to normal forgetting everything
once more. It happen when his wife died, and that is why he has been
distancing himself from her because he doesn't have much time left
and he just wants to protect her from the pain that his death will
cause her.
Now that Riki has
the whole picture he believes that Komari must face the truth,
because if she doesn't she will never be truly free. This is where he
gets the idea to add more to the picture book, to allow her to face
the truth that her brother may be gone but she isn't alone. It turns
out this is all she really need to be free, this allows for her to
look towards the future instead of being trapped in the past look for
something that she could never reach.
