Episode – 03 characters

Matsuda & Motohama – They are Hyoudou Issei's friends from mid-school, on graduation they decide to enroll in Kuou Academy because they just change from an all girls school to co-ed. The reason they want this is that there would be high population of women to men, so that they could fulfill their dream of having a harem.

Kiba Yuuto – Is extremely popular with all the girls, and because of this he is envied by Issei, Matsuda, and Motohama. Although it seems that he will play a larger role later on.

Rias Gremony – Is the President of the Occult Research Club, and another key character in the story. However for some deeper reason she has been keeping a close eye on Hyoudou Issei.

Hyoudou Issei – Is overtly perverted, and has some strange dream about being a harem king. Which if you ever watch Yu-Gi-Oh, the joke that the writer is making is quite apparent. Although after he dies he has a slight change of heart. It will be interesting how much he maturates over the course of the series.

Amano Yuuma – She is the girl that asks Issei out early in the episode, although you would have to ask what kind of respectable woman would date a known pervert. However the reason is later revealed.

Souna – There isn't much that we know about her other than she is close to Rias Gremony or at least the gremony family.

Himejima Akeno – She is the Vice-president of the Occult Research Club, and her personality is a refection of the Yamato Nadeshiko “Ideal Japanese Woman”. Although other than this not much is revealed.

Toujo Koneko – First year student at this part of the Occult Research Club, and is classified as a loli character that is popular with men and woman.

Dounashiki – He is the second fallen angle that Issei ran into in the first episode, since they name him. It is likely that he will be making a second appearance.

Ashia Argento – She is a nun that has recently moved into the city that Issei lives in, but the strange thing is that, the only church in town doesn't have a Priest so no-one see a point in going there. Other than this brief introduction not much more is given out about her.

Freed Serzen – Is the Priest that works for the strange church in town, although he is a very violent person. That doesn't seek so save the soul of the people that make contracts with devils but seeks to kill them before they can make them.

Episode – 03 Summary

Things start out with Issei's meeting with Ashia, and then after a bit of an awkward introduction Issei leads her to the local church. Although after leading her there he mentions that no-one every goes there, however as they get closer he begins to feel a bit strange. Then to avoid this he makes an excuse that he has something that he needs to do and leaves although not before she has him promise to come visit her. Although from what he finds out from Rias it looks like he will be unable to visit his new friend because what he felt when he was close to the church was Issei's instinct telling him not to get any closer. Then Rias warns him that holy weapons will erase him from existence make it where it would be as if he never existed in the first place.

Then later Rias has them leave together as a group to deal with a stray devil. Which is a devil that has either runaway from it's master or has killed their master. Which they will have to eliminate to maintain order, the other reason is to express how devil's fight. In the fight Rias explains that devils have a ranking system that the highest is a king and the lowest is a pawn. That if your are born as a devil you posses a particular rank, but if you are turned into a devil you start as a pawn and you have to earn your rank. That your as go up in rank your powers reflects the powers of chess piece. Rais is the king, while Akeno is the queen, then Koneko is a rook, and Kiba is a Knight. What this means for Issei is that although he is the weakest of all the piece, it is possible for him to level up like the pawn does once it reaches the other side of the board. Then after the fight is finished it turns out that Koneko got another two request that he will have to try complete one of her request.

Although after his journey to the address, when he enters he finds out that the person that made the request is already dead and a priest is responsible for killing him. The justification that Freed gives is that he had to died to save his soul. That he is happy that he gets to kill a devil and ask Issei how he would like to die by his sword or his gun. During this fight Ashia come walking in and it gets reveal that she is working for the priest but request that Freed leaves Issei alone because even though he is a devil Issei is a good person. Although the priest isn't pleased with her back talking him, and takes out his anger out on Ashia. However this cause her to drop her barrier, which allows for his fellow devils to realize he is in trouble. Shorty after they arrive, the fallen devils are about to join the party so they have to quickly depart. Even though Issei realize this he ask Rias to take Ashia with them, but she tell him that they can't because only devils can travel through the magic circle. This reality breaks Issei heart that he has to leave Ashia behind to suffer what every fate awaits her, as he is forced to leave.
