Episode – 05 characters

Isanami – She is the sole survivor of the Izumo shrine, also it appears that she has some strange power that she doesn't even know that she has. Another thing to point out is that her name is vary similar to the goddess in the Japanese creation myth. It wouldn't surprise me if they have her end of being the reincarnation of Izanami.

Kirigakure Saizou – He is the other real major character in this story. Also from the way he act, it like he has a great many secrets to hide. Like how he says that he is a samurai while in fact he is an Iga ninja. It also appears that he has some sort of connection with Isanami by how he is able to calm her down. There is also his unexplained hatred for feudal lords.

Sarutobi Sasuke – He is a Koga Ninja, and this is what leads to the conflict between him and Saizou because in Japanese his the Koga and Iga ninja's have a long standing rivalery. It also seems that for some reason the koga ninja's under his command are surving Sanada Yukimura.

Sanada Yukimura – His is Lord of Ueda Castle, it also appears that he is renown for his intelligence and integrity. Also it seem that he is seeking to draw ten great warrior to his side to equal his equal great fingers, before he can go to war.

Rokurou – He is a mysterious figure that is helping Yukimura in his ambition. Although it appears that it will be awhile before we learn more about him.

Ana – She is a childhood friend of Saizou, although he dislikes how clingy she is. Further more Isanami doesn't much care for her because she feels that she is going to take Saizou away from her. Also she is now working for Yukimura after trying to kill him and failing.

Hattori Hanzou – Is the one that burned down the Izumo shrine, and is working for Tokogawa Ieyasu. Although we don't know at this point what part he will play, even though he is a renown historical figure. However the one thing we do know is that he will be back for Isanami.

Kakei Juuzou – Is a Samurai in service to Yukimura, and he specialize in juujitsu (fighting with guns). He is also extremely conservative and believes that Isanami's behavior towards Saizou is highly inappropriate. That it would only be acceptable if they were married.

Yuri Kamazuke – Is a bandit that is encountered on their way to Izumo, although he is not really interested in stealing. The thing he wants the most is to find someone the kill, because only on the edge of life and death does he truly feel alive.

Date Masamune – Is the ruler of Oushuu, and is an ally of Tokugawa Ieyasu. He is searching for kushi-mitama which are fragments of a god's soul. That he believes if he gets them all he will became a god and this is the reason he is after Isanami.

Episode – 05 Summary

In the beginning we finally see why Saizou so hates the idea of serving anyone. The reason being that his friend that he look up to ended up dieing serving his master, but what Saizou saw was that they didn't even care about his death and just dumped his body in the river. This is when he realize that they only saw ninja's as tool that could easily thrown away and replaced, in an effort to prevent the same thing from happening to him. He would never serve anyone and just end up killing for money. This gives us a bit a glimpse into Saizou's past. Although when he awakes up he is resolved to leave them because they only thing holding him down was Isanami. However Kakei get him to at least to stay until they give their report to yukimura and finish their mission together.

This then lead us to what is going on with Isanami. It turns out that from Date Masamune we find out more about Isanami hairpin and the other kushi-mitama. It turns out that there are others than just the one that Isanami has, it could be that there seven others in association with the eight section on the Taoist sign in the intro. What appears to be Masamune's goal is to collected all of the Kushi-mitamas which are fragments of the soul of a god and make himself into a god. The reason he desires this is that he hopes to remake the world as he sees fit. Although he is now keeping Isanami locked up, although he will give her anything she wish for only under the condition that she has to stay in the cell.

However at the same time that Masamune has locked Isanami in the cell, Yukimura get word form kakei of the things that happened in Izumo. This cause him to order Ana and Sasuke to rescue Isanami from Date Masamune. In this attempt to save her Ana is tasked with distracting the guards while Sasuke goes to rescue her. Although it turns out that she doesn't want to be saved because she feels that this is the best place for her since as long as she is here no more people will have to die because of her. However her biggest worry is that Saizou might eventually die because of her and that is the last thing that she wants.

When Ana receives word from Sasuke in jail about Isanami. She decides that Sasuke is useless and she has to snap Isanami out of it to bring her with them. Once she escapes from jail, Ana is able to get the keys to break Isanami out of her prison. Although even after she gets to her she still has to convince her to come with that by stating that it is about time that she stop acting like a princess. That she has a duty to live up to since Yukimura has chosen her as one of his brave 10. That none of them are afraid of getting hurt. That it isn't physical strength that makes someone strong, but it is their inner strength that make someone truly strong. Then with that Isanami agree to come with them.

Once Saizou return he is still down about not being able to protect Isanami, to the point that he tries to avoid her altogether. It takes Sasuke picking a fight with him to not him out of it. That during this fight Sasuke tells Saizou he is weak and that he will always be weak until he learns to face his own weakness. That he needs to learn to trust others, in his time of need. This lead to him regaining confendence in himself. Then from here they give their report to yukimura on what has happened, that they couldn't read what was writen in the cave. This reveals Rokurou's power, that he can pull information from another persons mind with the eye that is normally cover with an eye-patch. Then from Saizou memories Rokurou create a translation of what Saizou saw inside the cave. Yukimura lies to them on what was written inside the cave but after he they leave he alludes to the fact that Saizou will have a major connection to the events written inside the cave.
