Isanami – She is the sole survivor of the Izumo shrine, also it appears that she has some strange power that she doesn't even know that she has. Another thing to point out is that her name is vary similar to the goddess in the Japanese creation myth. It wouldn't surprise me if they have her end of being the reincarnation of Izanami.

Kirigakure Saizou – He is the other real major character in this story. Also from the way he act, it like he has a great many secrets to hide. Like how he says that he is a samurai while in fact he is an Iga ninja. It also appears that he has some sort of connection with Isanami by how he is able to calm her down. There is also his unexplained hatred for feudal lords.

Sarutobi Sasuke – He is a Koga Ninja, and this is what leads to the conflict between him and Saizou because in Japanese his the Koga and Iga ninja's have a long standing rivalery. It also seems that for some reason the koga ninja's under his command are surving Sanada Yukimura.

Sanada Yukimura – His is Lord of Ueda Castle, it also appears that he is renown for his intelligence and integrity. Also it seem that he is seeking to draw ten great warrior to his side to equal his equal great fingers, before he can go to war.

Rokurou – He is a mysterious figure that is helping Yukimura in his ambition. Although it appears that it will be awhile before we learn more about him.

Ana – She is a childhood friend of Saizou, although he dislikes how clingy she is. Further more Isanami doesn't much care for her because she feels that she is going to take Saizou away from her. Also she is now working for Yukimura after trying to kill him and failing.

Hattori Hanzou – Is the one that burned down the Izumo shrine, and is working for Tokogawa Ieyasu. Although we don't know at this point what part he will play, even though he is a renown historical figure. However the one thing we do know is that he will be back for Isanami.

Kakei Juuzou – Is a Samurai in service to Yukimura, and he specialize in juujitsu (fighting with guns). He is also extremely conservative and believes that Isanami's behavior towards Saizou is highly inappropriate. That it would only be acceptable if they were married.

Yuri Kamazuke – Is a bandit that is encountered on their way to Izumo, although he is not really interested in stealing. The thing he wants the most is to find someone the kill, because only on the edge of life and death does he truly feel alive.

Episode – 03 Summary

In the aftermath of the attack Yukimura has a meeting with Saizou, that he want him to take Isanami back to Izumo. Although Saizou questions the reason behind this because if they do that what was the point in trying to hide Isanami here in the first place. The reason is simple Ieyasu is looking for something, and was willing to destroy the temple in Izumo to do this. Also there the fact that he is hunting down Isanami the sole survivor of the attack. However Isanami is all for this idea because she feels that as long as Saizou is with her she will be safe.

Although Isanami was expecting that this journey would be an opportunity to be alone with Saizou. Unfortunately for Isanami, Kakei is going along with them on their trip to act as their guide. This cause Isanami to be a bit depressed that she wouldn't get to be alone with Saizou. Although Kakei has his own issue with Isanami with how she is so clingy with Saizou, then at one point he believed that Isanami and Saizou were married. This cause Saizou to explains to Kakei that Isanami is just the way she is because she was raised like a princess. This eventually leads us to Kakei explaining on the brave 10 that Yukimura is trying to create, that at the center of this group is Sasuke, Ana, and Rokurou. Also it seems that Yukimura has includes Isanami and Saizou in on this. Although Kakei question the point behind having Isanami be part of this group because be believes that she is just an ordinary woman. Although we know this isn't true because of the small glimpses into her power that we have see through out the series.

When they get back on the road to Izumo, the run into a bit of a road block in the form of a rope bridge and an injured woman. However it turns out that the injured woman is actual is a leader of some bandits. In this conflict Kakei shows how good of a marksmen he is by killing all of the other bandits while Saizou engages Yuri. While this is happening Yuri uses his wind Ninppo(Ninja Magic) to cut the bridge causing Saizou to fall down the canyon while Yuri escapes with Isanami. Although Yuri has no intention in running away, he is simply waiting for Saizou to come back to save Isanami because Yuri isn't interested in the girl. It just enjoys the act of killing someone, and that is all there is to it.

Although once he does it turns out to be not so much of a one side fight as it was before. It turns out that when Yuri sent him down the canyon he really pissed Saizou off. Even though it is true that he is coming back to fight him to get back Isanami, another part of this is that he just wants to kill Yuri. However from Yuri's point of view by him getting rid of Isanami he is freeing Saizou because he believe there is no way that he can see that Saizou would want to continue protecting this woman. Although through this fight we get to see a dark side of Saizou, and Isanami pulls Saizou back before he can descend further into the darkness by preventing him from killing Yuri. Things end with a bit of foreshadowing that this isn't going to be the last time that they see Yuri.
