Date A Live - ep02

The interesting thing is the direction that this series is going in because it is becoming the exact opposite of “the world that only god knows”. Instead of these Japanese games working as dating simulators, where they are suppose to help Shido but ironical it turns out that they just makes things the situation worse. They compound on this problem by having him also receive dating advice from people that are failures in the art of love, that none of this people would you actually want help from. That at various point throughout the episode, the things that he thought up by himself actual works better than the advice the “experts” give him.

Then there the fact that they had him trying to ask out a couple woman before he goes through with the real thing. However I don't know about their idea of anyone would do. This results in him first asking out his teacher, but given by fast she response it might have not been the best of ideas. Then in his desire to flee his marriage obsessed teacher he runs into Origami. Although she might not be the best choice to practice on either since she is his stalker, also since her goal is to kill all spirits especial this because she implied that it is responsible for her parents death. Then ironically when his sister feels that he has had enough practice a space-quake occurs which is centralize on where he currently is.

This leads him to what he has been preparing for his reunion with the spirit. It turns out that she is isn't comfortable with someone actual trying to talk to her, this leads her to be suspicious of Shido's actions. That is because in the times that she has appears everyone just tries to kill her, this is probable the leading reason why she wishes to converse with Shido. That in the end he is the only one that has approached her without any feeling of hostility. Then when Shido discovers she doesn't have a name and ask for him to give her one. It turns out that he made a bad decision to go to his sister for help since her advice also got him kill. Although it turns out she approves of the second name but name her Tokka is a bit ironic since the name he gave her is base on the date that they first met.

Things get a bit complicate when AST get involved, but the question is that did Origami attack Tokka because she now had a reason to act when she believe that Shido was her hostage or did she honestly believe that she was saving him from the spirit. This just has to happen just as Shido finally asks Tokka out on a date. Then after this confrontation Tokka disappears, that initial this disappoints Shido because he believe that he will have to wait for the next quake before he can see her again. However next they met he will at least know what to call her. Although it turns out that Tokka hasn't gone far, that she was just waiting for everyone else to leave so that she could be alone with Shido so that he can take her out on a date like he promised. It seem that he succeed in asking her out but will he survive the date.

Valvrave the Liberator - ep01

This series bares a striking resemblance to Gundam Seed, although it will probable move at a far fast pace than Gundam Seed did since it only has about 13 episodes to do it in. While the entirety of Gundam Seed spanned a hundred episodes. There are a couple key point that it focus in on to draw this resemblance. The first is the arrival of a team of five teenage soldiers where their job is to steal a prototype weapon that far exceeded anything that currently exists. Then you have the only peaceful nation that is doing it best to stay neutral, this results in thing being too peaceful which leads to poor security. Then once war does come it doesn't take long before peace and security that they did have to be shattered.

However it is very similar to Gundam in many ways, it is also very different in it's own right. In the beginning there is a high focus in on the relationship between Haruto and Shoko. That it is very clear that our protagonist is in love with Shoko, where it seems all of his other friends know of his feeling but the person in question. Which is kind of an interesting twist because it is typical the man that is the dense one not the other way around. What make it a bit saddening is that the peace is shatter just as he is about to confess. Then as they are escaping Shoko see someone in need of help but gets killed shortly after.

This tragedy is the motivation for Haruto to get in the mech that arrives moments later to exact his revenge on for the unjust murder of his love, and his inability to ever be able to convey his feelings. This leads him into crushing the tie-fighter knock-off mechs. Although there is another reason they probably had to kill off Shoko was that one of the requirement by the machine is the cast off your humanity. The question is what does that really mean, all thought towards the end of the episode we see to a degree what it means when he is stabbed to death and then shot by on of the invaders. Although to our attackers surprise he is reanimated as a zombie. That is one twist combination zombies and mechs, the question is where will they go next.

Devil Survivor 2 - ep02

First thing is to make a corrections from last time, it turns out that this anime is base off of an actual game. Things begin with the three of them under-arrest being taken to the Jp's HQ, although the others are just unwanted extras the one that are really interested in Hibiki. The reason for this is that he was able to summon Byakko, the reason this name is of particular importance is that Byakko is one of four gods that is said to protect the world. This leads us to Hibiki being introduce to Yamato, then from there we learn the state of the world and why they aren't doing anything to help the people.

It turns out that if the current invaders aren't defeat in about a week, than their world will be consumed. That in the end if helping the people now leads to destruction of the world, than all they would have done is given them a comfortable place to die. That is why it is of greater importance to seek a solution to the current situation because only by resolving the problem can the people be saved. However true this may or may not be Hibiki feels a bit of dishonesty about why Yamato wants him. The way he presents it is that he views Hibiki as worthless but on the other hand Byakko is very valuable and he wants it for himself. Although he can't have it so Yamato has decided to settle for possessing it through Hibiki.

This leads us to Hibiki making a deal so that Nitta can get to her parents, although it turns out that things are worse off than they thought. Which leads them to a near by shelter to look for information about whats going on. That it is during this effort to help Nitta that the shelter is attack but this time the only one that can act is Hibiki. That it is through this effort to save the people at the shelter that he makes up his mind to help Yamato but that still does mean that Yamato or Jp's is trust-worthy. That through his decision Nitta and Daichi decide to help as well, because there is still this feeling that they need to stick together until everything is resolved. However this scene with Yamato and this mysterious figure make one question if Yamato isn't their true enemy.

Shingeki no Kyojin - ep01

It seems the writers want to take their time introducing us to the story. The main focus is clearly defining the world that the story is set in. That humans are force to live in city where their only protection from the giants is the 50 meter tall wall. It seems that in this world they have tried to fight back against the giants but all attempts have failed. That the currents state of things is that they are force live behind these wall. It seems that this status qua has been maintained for the past 100 years. That the majority believe that the giants can't reach them, that as along as they continue to live their live behind the walls they can continue living in peace.

Although it appears that some are not happy with this status qua is our protagonist Eren, that he has plan to join this worlds version of the military to see the world outside. That his view on things are a bit different than others in how he views their situation, and others are not to pleased with how bluntly he puts it. Erens views are that the reason that the giant haven't bothered with attacking in a hundred years is the true is that they are being kept as live-stock. Then once they are fatten up enough the giants will surely come.

It turns out that in the end Erens prediction turns out to be true when towards the end of the episode the giants invade the city and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. That in the end the only thing that anyone can do is to flee, this is proven true when Hannes one of the city guards is force to flee in the face of his enemy. That in the end he felt that if he fought he would die so instead he decide to heed Carla's pleas to save Eren and Mikasa. This chapter comes to a close we Eren is force to watch his mother being eaten by the giant.

Date A Live - ep01

It kind of interesting the premise that they are using for this Romantic-comedy. That our protagonist role is to save the world with love. The reason for that is that these space-quakes are causing chaos all over the world are cause by Spirits, but from the direction the story goes in is that if each of these space-quakes are cause by the earth defense force and these spirits. Then most likely earth is losing the war so instead they are going to shift tactics by having Shido seduce these invaders. The question is why have they chosen Shido for this role. Although there isn't much to take away from this first episode since it really only introduces the Characters, that in the end the lasting feeling it gives is that this is only part one of the first episode.

However with all that the introduce in the first episode it leads to a lot of speculation. First point is the break of occurrence of space-quakes for a 25-year period. The there is the fact that if these quakes are cause by the spirits that what happen to make the first quake so large that it kill 150 million people. It could be that they tried this love plan before and it lead to spirits fighting among themselves, and this Cat-fight on an epic scale is what kill 150 million people. If that is true, that that would be kind of messed up all those people dead because of a lovers quarrel. Then with that why did it start up again 25 years later unless that is for the fight to begin again surrounded his son. The final thing to think about is if the spirit that Shido encountered was the same one that killed Origami's parents, if that is so that things will certainly be unpleasant.

Devil Survivor 2 - ep01

In the start of the new season we have the return of Persona, the series the preceded this one was base on Persona 4 for the PS2. While the previous series was based closely on it's video game counter part, it seems that although Devil Survivor 2 has association with the Shin Megami Tensei series but isn't base on any of the previous games in the series. It is also possible that they either choose to do something new or they re-did the art style from one of the earlier games I can't really say since I haven't play this RPG. Although from the format they probably based it Persona 4 since they introduce use into the three main characters early on like they did in the previous series.

Like in the previous series the narrative revolves around our protagonist Hibiki, then from this point they create another similarity to the previous series by defining his character as someone on the outside looking in. That it is through this view point Hibiki is able to see and understand the situation they find themselves stuck in before Nitta or Daichi comprehend what going on. Also along these lines they also create a mystery that is similar but different than Persona 4's problem, and that is what is the nature of Nicaea app. That the series will probably seek to answer this single simple question as things progress. The interesting point is how will they take the series, because in the previous series the action took place in a digital world by stepping through the TV. Although in this series nothing takes place in hidden dimension everything takes place in one world with no place to run or hide.

Another thing that will be interesting is the nature of the summons, because like everything else in the series it is closely base off of Persona 4. In Persona 4 the summons where reflections of the protagonist's personality, while this time around they are simply demons the question is how are these demon related to the summoner. Then there is the fact that social interaction play a large role in powering up the summons, the question is how will that happen when our trio is about to be arrest. It might be that they intent to having things going in a different direction, that only the beginning might be similar. It is really hard to say on way or another since this is only the first episode.

Highlight

Anime Season of Spring 2013

 Now with Winter 2013 over there is little less than a week before the new anime season begins. While last season was mostly about finish up series that didn't finish from the season before. It seems that in spring we are starting fresh. After looking over the series that are going to air this season they are broken up into three gernes Mechas, Samuria, and Romance. Along with these new series there is also the return of some old series as well like Haiyore Nyaroko-san. This season look like there will be more to enjoy than last season.
